The back of a safe door showing the combination lock body and change key hole

Published before we drive, not after

From $69–$149 per lock plus the $19 service call. Mechanical dials take longer than electronic keypads.

That is a starting range. The top of it can move, and the final figure depends on the lock, the door and what the technician finds on site. On the large majority of jobs we land inside the published range, and the number is confirmed with you before any work begins. Prices run a few dollars higher in the outer-ring cities — that is drive time, nothing else, and each city page shows its own figure.

Included on every visit

  • Mechanical dial and electronic locks
  • Always tested with the door open first
  • Multiple user codes where the lock supports it

What happens when we arrive

  1. Existing combination verified working before anything is altered
  2. Change key or electronic reset used per the lock's own procedure
  3. New combination set and dialled several times with the door open — never with it shut
  4. You dial it yourself, twice, before we leave

Typically 30–60 minutes.

What to have ready

The current combination. Without it, this becomes a safe opening.

When this is the wrong call

If the dial feels gritty or the numbers drift, the lock needs service first. Changing a combination on a failing lock is how safes end up locked shut.

What people ask before booking

Can I change my own safe combination?

On many electronic locks, yes — the manual will tell you. The critical rule either way: test the new combination several times with the door OPEN. Setting a code and closing the door before testing is the most common way people lock themselves out permanently.
